Richard Rosenthal, M.D, Medical Director

Richard Rosenthal, M.D. is a world renowned Pain Medicine Physician who has incorporated regenerative injection therapies into his everyday pain medicine practice. He is board certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Addiction Medicine and Interventional Pain Medicine. He graduated from the University of Utah medical school in 1985. In 1993 he graduated from an anesthesia residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio Medical Center. He is the Founder, President, and Medical Director of Nexus Pain Specialists.
Dr. Rosenthal has distinguished himself as a leader in educating and training medical professionals in the fields of Interventional Pain and Regenerative Medicine. He is the editor of the interventional pain section of the widely read journal, Practical Pain Management.  He developed a one-year pain medicine fellowship which teaches young physicians the skills in Interventional Pain and Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Rosenthal is a master instructor for the prestigious organization the Spinal Intervention Society.  He has taught physicians in both the United States and Europe how to correctly perform various spinal procedures.  He has authored several scientific articles and book chapters on topics in the specialty of pain medicine. He is also involved in clinical research and has served as an expert witness in malpractice cases. His clinic was awarded the Excellence in Multi-disciplinary Pain Care Award by the World Institute of Pain (one of only 4 clinics in the United States to receive the award in 2011).
Dr. Rosenthal has been practicing Regenerative Medicine for the past several years. He has acted as Course Director for more than 30 Regenerative Medicine courses and has also lectured at several national conferences.  He specializes in the use of stem cells and platelet rich plasma for the treatment of painful joints, including the knee, hip and shoulder. His treatments are based on a comprehensive approach to relieving pain and improving function.  Dr. Rosenthal has lectured on the topic of Regenerative Medicine, especially Platelet Rich Plasma and Stem Cells treatments, for such prestigious organizations as the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Society for Pain Practice Management.

George Chang Chien, DO

George C. Chang Chien, D.O. specializes in musculoskeletal medicine and comprehensive pain management. He was trained in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the #1 Ranked Rehabilitation Hospital in the United States since 1991. After completion of his Physiatry training, he completed fellowship training in comprehensive pain medicine at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Anesthesiology Institute.

Dr. Chang Chien has authored over 100 manuscripts on a variety of topics including Regenerative Medicine, orthopedics, and advanced interventional procedural medicine. He has active research in regenerative medicine applications for medical aesthetics, pain management, sports-related injuries, and has been a collaborator on multiple multi-center studies.

Dr. Chang Chien speaks regularly throughout the world on Regenerative Medicine. His professional teaching experience includes being a CIPS Examiner for the World Institute of Pain, ABIPP examiner for Regenerative Medicine and Interventional Pain, ultrasound course Director at the Cleveland Clinic, Regenerative Medicine Course Director for American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Society for Pain Practice Management.

Dr. Chang Chien specializes in all aspects of Regenerative Medicine and has distinct expertise in platelet rich plasma (PRP), bone marrow aspiration for stem cells (BMAC), and adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC).

Aaron Calodney, MD

Dr. Calodney earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and completed a family medicine internship at St Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York. His residency in anesthesiology and subsequent interventional pain management fellowship was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He subsequently completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at the Denver Children’s Hospital. After spending several years as a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology at the UT medical school in Houston, Dr. Calodney moved to East Texas where he has practiced since 1991.

With particular interest in Spine and special interests including Neuromodulation and Intrathecal Drug Delivery, Biological treatment of the painful degenerative disc, Peripheral nerve injury, and Radiofrequency ablation, Dr. Calodney has presented and published many articles and textbook chapters. He is actively involved in clinical research and has delivered over 250 invited lectures in the US and abroad. Dr. Calodney also specializes in treating pain through the use of regenerative medicine and implements these techniques, when applicable, into his practice.

Matt Murphy, PhD

Dr. Murphy designs and implements new strategies for the isolation and application of autologous stem cells for spine, orthopedics, and cardiovascular therapies. Dr. Murphy was a senior researcher at Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, Texas, where he focused on the combination of adult stem cells and biomaterials for regenerative medical applications in orthopedics, spine, pancreatic, and soft tissue repair. At Rice, he researched novel biomaterials for bone and cartilage regeneration and developed targeted drug delivery strategies. He also worked at NASA on the design of new spacesuits for travel to the moon and Mars as part of the Constellation Program. He has authored twelve peer-reviewed publications and two textbook chapters related to tissue engineering and drug delivery. Dr. Murphy holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Rice University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Sairam Atluri, MD

Dr. Atluri is rated by Becker Review as the one of the Top 70 Interventional Pain Physician in US and one of the Top 25 Interventional Pain Physician in Ohio.He is on the Task Force for the State Medical Board of Ohio to prevent Prescription Opioid Abuse. He is on expert witness panel for the State Medical Board of Ohio to prosecute physicians causing the epidemic of prescription opioid abuse. Dr. Atluri is triple board certified in Pain Management. He is certified by American Board of Specialities, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and World Institute of Pain. He is also board certified in Anesthesia.

Joel Baumgartner, MD

Dr. Joel Baumgartner is a board certified physician with a specialized fellowship in non-surgical orthopedics and sports medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, and completed his family practice residency at the University of North Dakota. Dr. Baumgartner completed his advanced training in sports medicine with a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center. He utilizes the latest in diagnostic and treatment technology to better treat musculoskeletal injury and pain. As an international speaker, he instructs both physicians and those in the medical industry on pain evaluation, diagnosis and the latest treatment options. Dr. Baumgartner has authored a book on Prolotherapy and PRP technique, He is also a contributing author on the subject of pain management for a variety of other popular publications. She received her medical degree from Medical College and Hospital Kolkata and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Josh Donaldson, ND

Dr. Donaldson's primary attention is centered on the prevention and treatment of disease and chronic pain disorders through appropriate dietary and lifestyle modifications, nutritional supplementation and various treatment modalities. Robert Kinne, M.D.

Robert Kinne, M.D. is double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, after which he completed his residency in PM&R. Following, he completed two fellowships: the first in Interventional Spine and Pain Management and the second in Primary Care Sports Medicine, both with an emphasis on traditional as well as regenerative medicine treatments.


Dr. Kinne has a passion for sports and musculoskeletal medicine, utilizing both fluoroscopy and ultrasound in his daily practice. He has served as a team physician for multiple affiliated minor league hockey and baseball teams as well as NCAA universities. He remains committed to providing both traditional and novel treatment options for his patients and is well versed in many modalities. He has utilized and maintains expertise in various regenerative medicine applications including Platelet Rich Plasma, Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate and Adipose-derived MSCs for treatment of a variety of sports, spine, joint and other musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.


Outside of his clinical practice, he remains active in teaching, having provided lectures and hands-on training in ultrasound, fluoroscopic-guided procedures and regenerative medicine throughout the United States for numerous professional organizations including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Advanced Regenerative Medicine Institute. He stays involved with these societies as well as the Spine Intervention Society, Interventional Orthopedics Foundation and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.


When not working, he loves spending time with his daughters and wife and serves as the pitching coach for a local high school baseball team.

Agnes Stogicza, MD

Dr. Agnes Stogicza is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician with 15+ years of experience in interventional pain management. She completed her pain fellowship at the University of Washington, where she was on faculty from 2010 to 2017.  As a clinician-educator she treated pain patients and taught fluoroscopy and ultrasound guided minimally invasive interventional pain procedures, regional anesthesia techniques and medication management for medically challenging chronic pain patients to pain fellows and residents.

Currently she works in chronic interventional pain and anesthesia in Budapest at St Magdolna Private Hospital.

Dr. Matthew Peterson has over 18 years of experience in the field of medicine, including thirteen years as a pain physician. His overall goal is to provide services for patients to decrease pain, increase function, and reduce the need for medications. Dr. Peterson utilizes minimally invasive procedures to diagnose, treat and potentially heal the source of pain. He is highly trained and experienced in the field of Regenerative Medicine and is one of the few physicians in Alaska qualified to use Regenexx Regenerative Medicine procedures.

After receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Peterson attended medical school at the University of North Dakota. He then completed his family practice residency at Alaska Family Practice, anesthesia residency at the University of Arizona and interventional pain fellowship at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Peterson is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and his work has been published in the Postgraduate Medical Journal. He has traveled across the globe in order to teach physicians the latest regenerative medicine techniques and treatments.

In his free time, Dr. Peterson enjoys traveling with his family and spending time at his ranch in British Columbia.
